#tbt - May Day 2017 NYC - As you can see, the stage for May Day was pushed further back compared to previous years. The rally was given a smaller stage and a smaller PA system but you know what? You better believe that The People brought The Power regardless!! •
THIS year for May Day 2018, the NYC Parks Department has altogether DENIED us a permit to rally in Union Sq South and is trying to push us alllllll the way to the back to the other side of the square. This is a slow and deliberate tactic they have been developing for at least 3 years but we are saying HELL NO!

TODAY AT NOON, Press Conference and Protest: Thursday, April 26, 1pm at NYC Parks Department, 24 West 61st St, NYC, Tell the city of New York and @NYCParks: You can’t shut down May Day!
We have a right to rally and demand our rights!

A VERY important #WayBackWednesday : Here is a photo I shot of May Day 2015 in NYC. This was the last time (I remember) May Day having this kind of staging, visibility and sound system. Since then, the city has pushed us back in Union Sq (under the genocidal gaze of the George Washington statue no less 😒), given us a tiny stage and in doing so, the whole turn out and vibe has been affected these past 3 years.

THIS year the NYC Parks Department has DENIED the permit to have the annual May Day rally in Union Square South and is pushing us to the back of the park… 3 blocks away! This is fucking unacceptable.
